Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan needed a last gasp penalty to a void home loss to MFM FC of Lagos as they played out a one all draw in MatchDay Four encounter played at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.  The visiting team from Lagos netted in the first half through enterprising striker Sikiru Olatunbosun while Adebayo Abayomi equalised for the Oluyole Warlord via spot kick on stoppage time. NPFL MATCH VIDEO DOWNLOADS LAUNCHED ON MOBILE NETWORK

Football fans in Nigeria can now access video highlights of the matches of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on their mobile phones. While modalities to have the service on all mobile networks are being worked out, the service is now active on the Etisalat network. A product of the commercial partnership between the League Management Company (LMC) and mobile telecommunication service vendors, VAS Digimobility Limited, football fans on the Etisalat network will access the service by sending ‘NIG’ to the short code, 8010 via short messaging service (SMS). The service costs N50 per week. LMC HAMMER FALLS ON ABIA WARRIORS

The League Management Company (LMC) has fined Okey Emordi tutor side Abia Warriors N250,000 for breaching the law of the game, that only the team captains can approach referees to protest any decision taken by centre ref during a game. The Umuahia based club was charged due to a group of their players persistently accosting the ref to protest a penalty decision to home team Remo Stars. Abia Warriors who enjoyed a brilliant start to the season prior to their last game away to Remo Stars played two game and won the two games against defending Champion Enugu Rangers and Katsina United 2-1 and 2-0 respectively. The League governing body further gave Abia Warriors 48hours , not later than Wednesday January 25, 2017, to appeal or accept the sabctions imposed on them.

Hammer Falls On Premier League Referee As Assistant Referee Receives Warning

In a strong bid to ensure better officiating this season, the Referee in charge of the Remo Stars vs Abia Warriors match in Sagamu, Ogun state, Dankano A from Kogi State Referees Council has been sanctioned and an Assistant Referee Hulda Nkwocha warned to sit up on the lines. According to the Head of Refereeing Unit/ Secretary of the NFF Referees Unit, Sani Zubairu, FIFA Rtd, Dankano has been handed eight weeks match ban for poor performance in the said game while Nkwocha, a female FIFA Referee of FCT Council charged to live up to expectations or risk removal from the Panel of a Premier League Referees after the Katsina Utd vs Gombe match in Katsina. The decision of the Committee, according to Zubairu who is also the Deputy President of the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, comes after a careful review of the video clips and match reports of all matches of the Referees Assessors.
