IGHALO STRIKES TWICE TO CELEBRATE EAGLES RETURN

Image
Odion Ighalo struck twice for Watford at Newcastle United to celebrate his recall by Nigeria to two friendlies in Belgium next month. Ighalo scored in the 10 th  and 28 th  minutes to record his fourth goal in the English Premier League and mark his club’s second win in the English top-flight league. It was also Watford's first win at St.James Park since 1981. Watford now have eight points, while Newcastle remain winless thus far. His goals came just a day after he was named on a 24-man squad by Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh for matches against Cameroon and Congo next month. Last month, Oliseh snubbed Ighalo for a 2017 AFCON qualifier in Tanzania despite the striker scoring his first goal for the Super Eagles against Chad in June. His exclusion was widely criticized and he has now been reconsidered by the Eagles.

VICTOR MOSES SINKS EPL MOST EXPENSIVE STARTING XI

Image
Manchester City starting XI worth 300 million pounds, the most expensive ever in the EPL, were put to sword by Nigeria’s Victor Moses, whose sixth minute goal inspired West Ham to win at the Ittihad on Saturday. Senegal’s Diafra Sakho doubled West Ham lead after 31 minutes, before Kevin de Bruyne halved the deficit in the second half for City. Moses opening goal was the first conceded by City this season and it led to the millionaire club suffering their first loss of the campaign. West Ham have also felled Arsenal and Liverpool away from home this season and they are now second on the table with 12 points from six matches. Moses was later replaced after an hour at City. Moses' compatriot, 18-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho was introduced by City six minutes from time but he could not reproduce his recent match-winning heroics at Crystal Palace.

Vincent Enyeama Sees Red In France

Image
In a contentious decision by referee Stephane Jochem in a Ligue 1 tie between Rennes and Lille on Friday night, Nigeria skipper Vincent Enyeama was dismissed in the 70th minute for apparently fouling an opponent. The Super Eagles glovesman was not tested much until twenty minutes from time when Ivory Coast international Giovanni Sio found himself in the penalty area, dribbled past Enyeama but lost his balance and fell. And despite two minutes of protests by Lille players, the referee’s decision to award a penalty and send off Vincent Enyeama stood. Substitute goalkeeper Mike Maignan his first action saved spot kick by George Ntep Enyeama was last red - carded in a league game six years ago in Hapoel Tel Aviv’s 1 - 1 draw with Maccabi Petah Tikva.

I Am Happy To Play Wherever, Even If It In Goal, Dele Alli

Image
Anglo - Nigeria and Tottenham Hotspur player Bamidele Jermaine Alli‎  has said that he would even play in goal if it meant that he still got on the pitch for the club. The former Milton Keynes Dons youth teamer made his first start for the North London side Tottenham Hotspur in the 1-0 victory over Sunderland last weekend after coming off the bench to score against Leicester City in late August.‎ The 19-year-old midfielder voiced his desire to keep his place in the side after the Sunderland game, and after he set up a goal in an impressive display against Qarabag on Thursday in the Europa League, he admitted that he would play anywhere as long as it meant that he kept his place.‎ ‎ In a chat with England Football Association official website, TheFA.com, he said "It is different but when you are playing with players like this and with the team that we have got here (at Tottenham) I am happy to play wherever, even if it in goal.‎ "I am just happy to be on th

Bilic: Moses Can Be An EPL Star

Image
Bilic and Moses West Ham manager Slaven Bilic believes Nigeria star Victor Moses has what it takes to be a big star in England once he settles down at a club and plays regularly. The winger is on a season-long loan to West Ham after consecutive loan stints at Liverpool and Stoke City as well as a season at his parent club Chelsea. He failed to impose himself at Chelsea and Liverpool before shining at Stoke City. His debut for the Hammers looked set to continue the upward trajectory of his growth and Bilic is excited. "Victor Moses is a class player. He hasn't had continuity at one club. He didn't make it at Chelsea, maybe he didn't make it at Liverpool - which is hard," Daily Mail quotes Bilic as saying.  ‎ "But last year at Stoke he was one of their best players. His first game was really good for us. His composure, his linking play and his work rate."‎ The Croatian trainer is hoping that Moses ' West Ham arr

Mikel, for one, last played for Nigeria in November 2014 against South Africa in Uyo, while the non-invitation of Watford star Ighalo was widely criticised. However, Nigeria dropped Haruna Lukman, who flopped against Tanzania in a 2017 AFCON qualifier, and recuperating Izunna Uzochukwu who got injured in the same game but has just returned to training. Mikel was dropped from the first squad announced under Oliseh's era due to communication gap, Moses was left out due to 'small' injury and Onazi was not listed due to suspension after his dismissal against Chad in June. Nigeria face Congo on October 8 and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon three days later in Belgium, as the Nigeria Football Federation ensure a more cohesive national team within a short. AAF:- Burkina Faso Upset Nigeria U23

Image
Burkina Faso will clash with Senegal for the prestigious gold medal of the men’s football event of the 2015 All Africa Games after they shocked Dream Team of Nigeria 3-1 on Tuesday. Burkina Faso made the most of their chances, while Nigeria were wasteful in front of goal and paid the price for such wastefulness. The Burkinabes were also very physical and forced Nigeria to make two changes as a result of injuries - Umar Aminu was replaced by Kingsley Sokari in the 48th minute and 10 minutes later, Mustapha Abdullahi came on for the injured Ndifreke Effiong. Burkina Faso, who only advanced to the semi-final of the tournament by the luck of the draw after they were tied on all statistics with Sudan, went in front after 12 minutes when defender Seth Sincere put the ball through his own net. No more underdogs In African football: Article By Oliseh

Image
As I sat there at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium, Port Harcourt Nigeria and watched Sierra Leone mastermind a more than deserved 0-0 versus African champions Ivory Coast, I could not help but marvel at the latest trend in African football. One day earlier, as coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, I witnessed also first hand, problems dealing with the assault and fight that the Tanzanians put up against us in Dar es Salaam. So hard was the fight that one could arguably say we might have been lucky to come away with a point. Though I feel my players deserved it. On the same day, South Africa lost away to Mauritania 3-1 in a hard-fought encounter. These are scorelines that were near unthinkable 10 years ago, but here we are living it up in reality. While the Ivorians can argue that they were missing Yaya Toure etc and Nigeria’s Super Eagles were fielding not just a new coach and new team, but players who trained just two days together for the first time before travelling out to
