Hammer Falls On Premier League Referee As Assistant Referee Receives Warning



In a strong bid to ensure better officiating this season, the Referee in charge of the Remo Stars vs Abia Warriors match in Sagamu, Ogun state, Dankano A from Kogi State Referees Council has been sanctioned and an Assistant Referee Hulda Nkwocha warned to sit up on the lines.

According to the Head of Refereeing Unit/ Secretary of the NFF Referees Unit, Sani Zubairu, FIFA Rtd, Dankano has been handed eight weeks match ban for poor performance in the said game while Nkwocha, a female FIFA Referee of FCT Council charged to live up to expectations or risk removal from the Panel of a Premier League Referees after the Katsina Utd vs Gombe match in Katsina.

The decision of the Committee, according to Zubairu who is also the Deputy President of the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, comes after a careful review of the video clips and match reports of all matches of the Referees Assessors.

The head of NFF Referees Unit enjoined all Premier League referees to be mindful of their decisions and actions before, during and after the game as the Committee would give appropriate sanctions to those found wanting in the course of discharging their duties.
