NWFL:- FC ROBO QUEENS BEATS SUNSHINE QUEENS 3-1, ENDS FIRST STANZA OF THE LEAGUE ON HIGH NOTE


FC Robo Queens ends the first half of the ongoing 2017 Nigerian Women Football League on high with a 3-1 victory over Sunshine Queens of Akure on match day 7 to finish second place on the table into the break.

Second half comeback from captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Ndubisi Esther and a loss time tap in from returnee Monday Gift were enough to silent Sunshine Queens who took the early lead  in the first half.

The South West derby began relatively on high note with popular referee Folusho Ajayi holding the whistle to her mouth. The FIFA  badged referee got the fans talking in the 12th minutes when she cheaply stopped Monday Gift from getting the opener by giving out a fowl against her in a close proximity attempt.

Rush out miss from LASFA best goalkeeper Unamba Augustina found Iyoma Goodness on lone standing who conviently shot at empty net to give the visitors the lead in the 41ft minutes and forced the Osahon Queens to end the first half from behind.

The intensity of play in the FC Robo Queens style which had handed them 100 percent home record so far in the league increased as the second half began with excellent play to get back into the game.

FC Robo captain and top scorer Rasheedat Ajibade in the 66th minutes got her 4th for the season when she powerful went past Akudo Ogbonna to hand the Lagos Champions the equaliser.

Dominant Robo Queens kept the pressure high on their visitors after the equaliser with lovely displays from Monday Gift, Uchegbu Chidinma and Fehintola Mabokanje in search for the lead.

Decent cross from high flying Uchegbu Chidinma found Ndubisi Esthers head in the 76th minutes who directed her head well to beat goalkeeper Elizabeth Johnson to give FC Robo Queens the lead with a third assist from the defender.

An 84th minutes tap in from Monday Gift increased the lead for the Lagos based Queens to secure three maximum points at home with 100 percent wins in all home matches in the first half of the season.

Lost time attempt from Innocent Patricia came on the post and a second attempt to get the ball past the line was ruled off in the 89th minutes as the game ended in 3-1.

With the win,  FC Robo Queens moves to the second spot on the log with 11 points from 6 matches  and a total of 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat during the first half.
