Sunshine Stars FC Of Akure Pulls Out Of South West Tournament In Lagos

Sunshine Stars FC of Akure have pulled out of the South West preseason tournament in Lagos due to the unavailability of funds eventhough the club via it's twitter handle has credited their pulling out to timing logistics. ODSFA Boss Otunba Dele says he is not aware of the development as he has not been on seat in the past one week due to the arrangements for his daughter's wedding.

Recall that the team played a preseason friendly few days back in Ekiti state against Enyimba FC of Aba where they lost by a lone goal. Inside sources revealed that no penny was released by the team's management for the said game and same is the case of the South West tournament forcing them to pull out at the eleventh hour.

Further revelations shows that players of the team are still being owed two and a half month salaries and as such the team is gradually losing players to other clubs as players are leaving for greener pastures.
Also, the Coaching staff is not exempted from all of this as the Honourable Commissioner for Sports in Ondo State Saka Yusuf has even slashed the salaries of the head coach Duke Udi and other technical crew members.

"For over two weeks now in preseason, not a single naira has been given to players for their welfare", the source revealed.

From all indications, members of the coaching staff should be leaving soon which will be a big blow to the team ahead of the new season, having battled relegation last season, successfully grabbing an escape as well as their impressive record of winning away from home thrice last season.
