FC heartland of owerri relegated for first time in the history of the club from Npfl to NNL.

2.Hassan Babangida:

He is out for  a three months injury and he come back with a fine form and scoring of goals that keeps  akwa United alive at NPFL.He omitted from Npfl team of season.

3.MFM:

Is the first new promoted side to got three points on the road at matchday one in the history of Npfl.

4.SHOOTING STARS:

Defeated kano pillars 4 -0.

5.AKWA UNITED:

Is the only team that got three points three goals on the road at Elkanemi.

6.NASARAWA UNITED:

Come from behind to defeat Wikki tourists  2-1 in the space of two minutes.
7.WARRI WOLVES :

Play in the continental last season and relegated from Npfl to NNL.

8.ENYIMBA AND KANO:

Both were popular teams representing Nigeria in continental,now lost thier tickets to Enugu rangers and Rivers United.

9.Wikki tourists and Ifeanyiubah:

Both Will play continental for first time in their history

10.Muhammad Bata:

The young star player who play for elkanemi warriors was shine in NPFL last season at age of 18 and included in Npfl ALL STARS tour to spain.

11.FC GIWA:

Expelled from Npfl due to unable to comply with the LMC roles.

12.Npfl season started with 20 teams and ended with 19 teams.

13.Enugu rangers won Npfl title for the first time in 32 years.

14.IFEANYIUBAH:
Finished third on table despite more spending than any other NPFL team.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Monday evening in Ijebu-Ode, emerged the winner of the maiden Governor Dapo Abiodun Pre Season Tournament. The Ibadan soccer lords, overcame a struggling start to the tourney, held at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, to pick the trophy, after a hard earned 1-0 win over hard fighting Delta Force. Cup holders Nigeria will defend their Africa U23 Cup of Nations title in Egypt in November after the Olympic Eagles secured a robust 5-0 win over their Sudanese counterpart in the final qualifying leg at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Tuesday evening. A brace by Ndifreke Effiong and one each by Taiwo Awoniyi, Sunday Faleye and Sunusi Ibrahim ensured a 5-1 aggregate win for the 1996 Olympic champions, and they became the fourth team after hosts Egypt, Zambia and South Africa to earn berths in the final scheduled for 8 th  – 22 nd  November.
