OSUN UNITED DEFEATED GO ROUND 2-1 , AS OMOLUABI GIANTS EXTEND THEIR 100 PERCENT HOME WIN





Osun United Football Club impressively defeated Go Round Football Club in one of the Week 8 contest of the Nigeria National League at the Oshogbo Township Stadium to keep their 100 percent home win streak.


Osun United began the game brightly, with Victor Okeji, Dare Olatunji, Hakeem Olalere and Tosin Omoyele, showing flashes.


Omoyele, opened the scoring for the Omoluabi Giants in the 9th minute after he supplied a delicate cross that was deflected on the edge of the box by Kpekpe Chris.


Go Round winger, Nwachukwu Solomon, and lanky striker, Ugwu Onyedinaka went into act of threatening as their pace and dribbling skills ensured they had a foot to stand on as Osun United backline stood strong.


Bassey Ezekiel, in the 38th minute almost got an equalizer for Go Round when Nwachukwu, after being put through on goal by, squared the ball to a rushing Ugwu Onyedinaka, who failed to make contact.


In the 42nd minute Osun United goalkeeper Ayo Ojo parried to corner a set piece from Chukwu Morice.


Ojo was also call to action minutes after the second half, to deny Onyedinaka.


In the 51st minute, the Ngozi Elechi’s side looked on course to extend their good run inform away from home after Worley Stanley, made no mistake in his finish as he jabs into the net a right side corner kick to draw the teams.


Alaji Rasaq sent the home fans wild with excellent goal to cheer in the 59th minute with a stunning 30-yards screamer that cut Go Round goalkeeper, Nwanbalu Stanley, napping.


The game proved to be a cagier affair with both team's looking for the crucial fourth goal with Onyedinaka again coming close for the Omoku darling team as his header was saved well by Ayo Ojo following a Nwachukwu cross.


As the clock ticked down the Omoluabi Giants captain Olalere, in the 83rd minute hits the woodwork with his low drive shot after dribbling past his markers.


The result ensures Osun United stay in the top half of the Southern Conference of the National League in sixth position with 13 points from 8 games, and will be guest to Heartland Football Club next weekend at the Dan Anyim Stadium, Owerri.
