3SC Round Off First Training Session Tomorrow


The first phase of Shooting Stars' training sessions will come to an end tomorrow at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba after two weeks of thorough screening.

The statement by the club's team manager, Dimeji Lawal on Monday indicates that few successful players out of  over 500 prospects who turned up for trials will be picked after the final training in the morning.

He further reveals that the new picks would then join the old players to begin the second phase of preparations next Monday for the new football season at the Professional League category, NNL.

It would be recalled that Shooting Stars resumed on 3rd November after a four week break from the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Monday evening in Ijebu-Ode, emerged the winner of the maiden Governor Dapo Abiodun Pre Season Tournament. Cup holders Nigeria will defend their Africa U23 Cup of Nations title in Egypt in November after the Olympic Eagles secured a robust 5-0 win over their Sudanese counterpart in the final qualifying leg at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Tuesday evening. A brace by Ndifreke Effiong and one each by Taiwo Awoniyi, Sunday Faleye and Sunusi Ibrahim ensured a 5-1 aggregate win for the 1996 Olympic champions, and they became the fourth team after hosts Egypt, Zambia and South Africa to earn berths in the final scheduled for 8 th  – 22 nd  November.
