MFM FC HELD WIKKI TOURIST TO A DRAW I




A well-struck shot by Stanley Okorom earned Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club their sixth away point of the season against Wikki Tourists in a rescheduled game Matchday 9 of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.


The hosts began the encounter with a lot of precision forcing MFM FC to a defensive play as they created series of chances in the early minutes of the nervy game but the visitors were resolute with their defending.


Wikki dominated the game for over an hour as they piled pressure on the visitors' defence. Shammah Tanze finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute of the exchange with a fine finish.


MFM FC's newly promoted academy player, Akanni Elijah, who made his first appearance in the NPFL dribbled past his maker in the 45th minute and connected John Okolie with a lovely pass the latter was about to latch onto the ball but the referee sounded his whistle for offside. First half ended with the hosts keeping their one-goal lead.


Wikki continued from where they stopped in the first half and they almost got a goal through Tanze but the striker's header from Festus Umanah’s cross went wide.


The Olukoya Boys then enjoy a fine spell of good play, stringing passes together as they went forward in search of the equalizer.


They dominated the game and their effort paid off in the 58th minute when Akanni initiated a counter-attacking move from the middle of the park, he set Okolie up with a pass, Okolie in turn then laid the pass to Okorom, the defender's effort beat Wikki's goalkeeper, Emeka Nwabulu.


MFM FC goalkeeper, Nasamu Emmanuel pulled a great save to deny Wikki's Saidu Abdullahi his goal opportunity in the third minute of the seven minutes added period.


With the vital away point, MFM FC are still sitting in the 3rd position on the NPFL table with 21 points from 11 league matches
