NPFL MATCH PREVIEW :- AKWA UNITED VS REMO STAR



Remo Stars will hope to continue its goalscoring form on Match Day Six in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) against host Akwa United who have not won a game at home this season.

The game between both sides was earlier scheduled for Wednesday, 1st of February, 2017 but moved to Sunday, 5th of February, 2017 still to hold at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, also known as the uncommon stadium in Uyo.

The Sky Blue Stars won their last home game against El-Kanemi Warriors but are yet to secure a point on the road after failing in two attempts against Gombe United and Nasarawa United.

Akwa United who are 20th on the log haven't won a game this season, drew their home games against Rivers United FC and Enugu Rangers FC but got a vital point on the road against Kastina United securing a 1-1 draw in Kastina the last time out.

The game will be keenly contested as the ‘Promise Keepers’ will be eager to get their first home win this season at the "Nest of Champions" on Sunday. 

Both sides have not met in any competition, a win for the promise keepers against the Sky Blue Stars could turn their season around.

Cup holders Nigeria will defend their Africa U23 Cup of Nations title in Egypt in November after the Olympic Eagles secured a robust 5-0 win over their Sudanese counterpart in the final qualifying leg at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Tuesday evening.
